APELLIS PHARMACEUTICALS
IPO DECK

Apellis Pharmaceuticals is a global biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics to control the complement cascade, a part of the immune system.

Steve Axon, Chief Business Officer of Apellis, came to us based on a colleague’s referral. He knew the information about their scientific breakthrough was complex and not something easily understood by most people. Apellis needed help simplifying their story so that they could present it in time at the upcoming annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference.

We leveraged our background in science to research and understand the principles of the complement immune system. This knowledge allowed us to create a story and design slides to explain their scientific hypothesis in a simple and compelling way.

“Theoria is like my left hand. They know our story and they understand our data.”

Steve Axon, Chief Business Officer of Apellis Pharmaceuticals

This diagram illustrates the central role of C3 in the complement cascade, a key part of the immune system. It shows how the Alternative Pathway, Lectin Pathway, and Classical Pathway all converge on C3, leading to downstream effects like membrane attack, phagocytosis, and inflammation. This highlights the target of Apellis's therapeutic development.
This graph presents data showing that Geographic Atrophy (GA) growth was notably reduced in patients who converted to wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and were treated with APL-2. It compares the change in GA lesion size from baseline over time in a sham group versus two active groups receiving different APL-2 injection frequencies.
This slide shows the potential of APL-2 to improve outcomes in Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), both as an add-on and monotherapy. It includes graphs tracking mean hemoglobin levels and mean LDH levels in patients following the start of APL-2 treatment, indicating a positive impact. Patient transfusions are also noted.
